About Liberty
Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible.
The Evolution of Liberty
Liberty Airport Systems can be traced back to 1970 when Westinghouse Canada developed the first modern Constant Current Regulator (CCR). The RSS20 Synchro-Tap CCR soon became the power source for virtually every airfield in Canada.
In 1988, Westinghouse developed a Control and Monitoring System (CMS) based on programmable logic controller (PLC) technology. Continual development based on customer feedback resulted in state-of-the art systems that are known as the most flexible and reliable systems in the industry. In fact, almost every system installed is still in operation today.
In 1995, the Westinghouse Airfield Division was acquired by Hughey and Phillips and later sold to Honeywell International in 1998. In 2004, Liberty Airport Systems Inc. was formed to continue the legacy in power and control solutions.
Since 2004, Liberty has grown exponentially and now has manufacturing facilities in both Canada and the USA. We are ISO 9001:2008 registered and our customer base is now global.
Liberty Personnel
Liberty personnel have over 250 years combined experience and a reputation second to none for customer service and support. As an employee owned company, our commitment and dedication to our customers remains our number one priority.
Through many corporate changes, the one constant has been a team of skilled and dedicated employees who have remained together. Liberty personnel have been responsible for the design and supply of airfield lighting projects to hundreds of airports worldwide.
The Liberty Vision
Use innovative engineering and technology leadership to deliver intelligent airfield lighting solutions worldwide, to the benefit and safety of airports, airlines and passengers alike.
Our team has a proven track record of designing custom engineered solutions for any customer needs. If you have a problem or need to improve airport operations, we’re here to help.
Airfield Experience
Over 3,000 Constant Current Regulators have been placed into service since 1970, including switchgear and stand alone designs using analog and digital SCR and Ferroresonant technologies.
Over 50 pre-fabricated airfield lighting electrical vaults (Field Electrical Centers) have been installed since 1975 c/w power distribution equipment, diesel generators, automatic transfer systems, building services, climate control and fire suppression systems.
Over 75 Control and Monitoring Systems have been installed since 1988 using PLC and PC technology, with touch-screen operator interfaces. A few of the airports where Liberty personnel have been involved include the following:
- Houston Aiport Systems (George Bush, William P. Hobby and Ellington Field), Houston, TX
